Period 1 objective/goal for citizenship competence is the following: ¨I understand that based on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the National Constitution of Colombia, every person has the right to not be discriminated against.¨ For this task we will watch two videos.
Video One: ¨I Have a Dream...¨is a 17 minute public speech (you will only watch the first 2 minutes) by Martin Luther King, Jr. (MLK) delivered on August 28, 1963, in which he called for racial equality and an end to discrimination. The speech, from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial during the the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, was a defining moment of the American Civil Rights Movement.
Video Two: ¨The Universal Declaration of Human Rights¨is a short 4 and half minute video that summarizes human rights.

The most inequality that I find is the low status compared to the high status people. I think that people discriminate because they think it is kind of funny or because they want to have power over another person.

The less you have, the more you love. After realizing the truth, were equality is the the value to learn from, you realize that there are similarities in the the Nacional Constitution of Colombia, where it talks about the equality with every ethnic group. Sadly, most of the people here, and everywhere, break this important, extremely important law. The people that have better economical opportunities, irrespect the ones that don´t have thoose. Another big discrimination problem is when people laugh, ignore and treat vey bad the homosexual people.This easy conclusion for this problem is that people discriminate because they don´t really have the emotional qualities that the ones they irrespect have.

ReplyDeleteI think inequality is injust because people deserve respect.When i was in the red team i felt without freedom,ignorate, but whn i was in the blue team i felt bad od others i felt bulling. you discriminate you are making the other person to feel of lower rank.Just as jr(MLK) said in his speech "I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood".people is equal ,why to treat them different?
